Travel south and you can revel in the warm hospitality and spirit of the
rhythm-loving cities of Memphis and Nashville; be sure to take it slow in
the big easy, New Orleans!
The climate in the USA varies greatly from North to South, depending on the season, and we suggest you take your destination into account when packing your suitcase. In winter, heavy outerwear is essential, unless you are visiting the southernmost states of the US. We also recommend waterproof shoes for visits to cities such as New York and Boston.
British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines and KLM are among the multitude
of airlines which fly to America. Frequent services also operate to the three major
Canadian gateway cities of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver from the UK. Zoom Airlines
has introduced low cost fares to Canada too, including lesser known destinations such
as Edmonton and Halifax.
Travelling around North America is easy, despite its size. Both countries are served
by excellent long distance Greyhound coaches in addition to trains - if you want to
combine both Canada and the US in one trip, consider buying a special rail or coach pass.
America's domestic airline network is extensive, whilst the major Canadian cities are
linked by air.
